Tomorrowland has secured an undisputed reputation of being one of the most looked forward to festivals of the year. More than 400,000 party people from every corner of the globe head to Belgium to watch more than 1,000 acts, where you’ll get confused for choice with top DJs. And the fact that its tickets sell out within minutes of release reiterates that Tomorrowland is one of the most anticipated music events ever.
This EDM festival takes place in late July and brings home some of the most notable international DJs and music producers, including Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Afrojack, Hardwell, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, to name a few.
2. Ultra Music Festival (Miami/USA)
The Ultra Music Festival in Miami is proof of how much the kind of EDM has grown over the past two decades. Started in 1999 to acknowledge EDM as a growing art form, the movement has gone global, with the festival now being organized at multiple venues across the world.
Held at the massive Bayfront Park in downtown Miami, the Ultra Music Festival brings together people and acts from around the world; some of the most noteworthy musicians to have performed here include Tiesto, deadmau5, David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, Sasha & Digweed, Above & Beyond, Avicii, Steve Aoki, and others.
The tickets for the event sell out in seconds; ticket resale can go for up to thrice as much as the original price (which at around $145 to $229 is high enough).
It is a three-day festival that goes from Friday to Sunday, but Miami Music Week starts the Sunday before, and there are shows every night and after-parties every night of the week.
The 2021 edition will take place from the 26th march till the 28th of march.
3. Airbeat-One Festival (Germany)
Airbeat-One Festival has become one of Europe’s biggest and best EDM festivals, with 45,000 people from all over the world gathering to party in an airfield in Northern Germany. Around 150 top acts (including superstars such as Marshmello, Tiesto, Hardwell, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Armin van Buuren and many more) play five incredible stages. For those that love the big room, hardstyle, psytrance, and groovy techno, the lineup was pretty much unreal. Though this was not a big festival by any means, with only 27,000 capacity over three days, with four stages, they put together an impressive lineup for each genre. It cost about 58 euros for the one day pass, but the three-day pass was around 120 euros, definitely pretty cheap.
The festival takes place the July 10/14 July.
4. Electric Daisy Carnival (EDS Las Vegas)
Electric Daisy Carnival, commonly known as EDC, is the largest electronic dance music festival in North America. The event primarily features electronic dance producers and DJs, such as Armin van Buuren, Calvin Harris, Diplo, Alesso, Dillon Francis, Martin Garrix, Zedd, Afrojack, Seven Lions, NGHTMRE, Yellow Claw, and Tiësto.
The festival incorporates a variety of electronic music, including house, techno, drum and bass, and dubstep. EDC was created to utilize music and art to inspire individuals. In addition to the music, individuals experience three-dimensional superstructures, colorful glow-in-the-dark environments, and LED-infused flora and fauna.
Sponsors of the most recent EDC events include Corona, Smirnoff, Uber, and Tinder. EDC sees more than 300,000 attendees on average.
The festival will take place this year (2021 edition) on May 21/23.
5. Burning Man (USA/Nevada)
Burning Man is not a festival! It is a city wherein almost everything that happens is created entirely by its citizens, who are active participants in the experience. Since 1991, the event has been located at Black Rock City. A temporary city erected in the Black Rock Desert of northwestern Nevada. More than 70,000 people went to Burning Man in 2018, according to the Black Rock City census project.
Burning Man does not book any entertainment for the event but instead; encourages participants to perform for the community free of charge. People wander around the camps on foot, bicycles, and scooters, cook together, dance, drink, make art, and generally just party.
Burning Man might have a reputation for being full of “hippies,” but some of the biggest names in Silicon Valley have reportedly attended the event. Such as, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook reportedly dropped into Black Rock City by helicopter for just one day to serve grilled cheese sandwiches to participants, and Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin went disguised in full spandex bodysuits.
