What to wear to a music festival: one printed piece over plain basics, shorts or joggers, shoes you have already walked miles in, one layer that fits in your bag, and the bag itself, worn across the body. A festival is twelve hours of sun, dust, standing and dancing, and then a cold walk back. The outfit that survives is the one built for that, not for the photo at the gate.
This guide is for anyone going to a big music festival, first time or not, who has seen the inspiration boards and now needs the practical version. It starts with the nine things to leave at home and what to wear instead, then six outfits for women and men that make it to midnight, what changes by festival, what to bring, and the sizes.

Every good festival outfit comes down to five decisions. One printed piece that people will remember: a jersey, a bodysuit, a cropped hoodie. Plain basics around it: a black tee or tank, black shorts or joggers, so the print is the only thing talking. Shoes you trust, because a festival is walking as much as dancing. One layer for the hour after sunset, small enough to carry. A small bag across the body, with the things you cannot lose.
Get those five right and the rest is taste. Get them wrong, and you will know by 4 pm. The test for any piece you are unsure about: can you dance in it, can you sit on the ground in it, and will it still be on you at eleven? If you can’t answer yes to all three, it stays home. The list below is the wrong version, one mistake at a time.
What not to wear to a festival: nine things to skip
Heels
The ground is grass, dust, or gravel, and you will stand on it for hours.
Wear instead: sneakers you have already broken in, or boots if the field might turn to mud. Nothing new, nothing open-toed.
An outfit with too many parts
Layers that need adjusting, straps that slip, a top that only works with one pair of pants. By the third set, you will be holding half of it.
Wear instead: one printed piece that works on its own, like a baseball jersey over a plain tee. Everything else is plain and stays put.
Two loud prints at once
A printed top and printed shorts cancel each other out; the eye has nowhere to land.
Wear instead: one print, plain bottoms, plain shoes. The only time two prints belong together is when they’re the same design on your whole crew.
Heavy fragrance
In a packed crowd in the heat, strong perfume or cologne is unpleasant for everyone within arm’s reach, including you.
Wear instead: deodorant and, at most, a small body spray.
Fabrics that do not breathe
Vinyl, leather, thick denim: they trap heat by noon and take hours to dry once you sweat through them.
Wear instead: a polyester knit that wicks, like our jerseys, or a stretchy bodysuit built for movement. Cotton is fine until it gets wet, then it stays wet.
Expensive jewelry
Rings come off with sweat, chains snap in a crowd, and nobody is finding an earring in a field at night.
Wear instead: kandi, plastic beads, anything you would not mind losing. It also looks more like the place.
Long, flowy dresses
The hem drags through dust, catches underfoot, and gets wet by the time the sun sets.
Wear instead: a bodysuit with shorts, or a cropped jersey over a bralette: same silhouette, no hem to manage.
Uncomfortable underwear
A bra that digs, shapewear that rides, anything you will be adjusting all day.
Wear instead: a bodysuit that is the top and the base in one piece, sized to your body measurements, or the plainest, softest thing you own under a jersey.
A heavy backpack
A full backpack turns the walk between stages into a hike and gets in everyone’s way in the crowd.
Wear instead: a small crossbody bag with exactly what you need, and nothing else.

An oversized hockey jersey gives you room to move and enough coverage for the walk between stages. Shorts and fishnets keep the look practical for a warm crowd without going over the top.

Cloak over a tee, the camping night

A hooded microfleece cloak is a wearable blanket: over everything for the late set and the campsite, and folded away in the tent by day.
By festival: desert, city, night and camping
A desert festival
Coachella runs on the polo fields of the Coachella Valley in April, over two weekends: hot afternoons, cold after dark, dust everywhere. Outfit 1 or 4 by day, with a hat and sunscreen you reapply; the hooded jersey or the hockey jersey from the bag once the sun is gone. Dark bottoms hide the dust.
A city park festival
Lollapalooza takes over Grant Park in Chicago for four days in summer: heat, long walks between stages, and a train ride home. Outfit 3 or 4, sneakers you trust, and a bag you can keep on you in a crowd. Summer rain happens; a layer that dries fast beats one that soaks.
An EDM festival at night
EDC Las Vegas runs at night, and the Halloween events at the end of October come with colder nights. Outfit 2, 5, or 6: the jersey over a tee, the oversized hockey jersey with shorts, or the cloak. A camping weekend
Two tops per day, one pair of shoes you trust, the cloak for the nights, and a jersey that works two ways if you have one. Dust and rain both happen; plan for the outfit to get dirty and pack the clean one for the last day.

Every piece here is made to order, and the ranges differ by cut: bodysuits and cropped jerseys XS to XL, cloaks XS to 4XL, hooded baseball jerseys XS to 5XL, joggers XS to 4XL, and rave shorts XS to 3XL, as listed on the product pages on 17 September 2026. The size guide includes these measurements: jerseys, hoodies, and cloaks are measured flat, so lay a piece you like on a table and match; bodysuits are sized to your bust, waist, and hips. Exchanges are limited because each piece is made for you, so measure first.

FAQ
Can you wear jeans to a music festival?
Yes, if they are loose and you are not in the desert in the afternoon. Wide or straight jeans with a jersey make a solid night outfit. Skinny jeans in the heat are mistake five, in denim.
What shoes should you wear to a festival?
Sneakers you have already walked miles in. Boots if the field might turn to mud, or if it’s a camping weekend. Never new shoes, never heels, never open toes.
What do you wear to a festival if it rains?
Pieces that dry fast, dark bottoms, boots, and a layer you do not mind getting wet. Our jerseys are a polyester knit, which dries faster than cotton. A thin rain poncho in the bag weighs nothing.
What do you wear to a festival at night?
The afternoon outfit plus the layer: a hooded jersey buttoned with the hood up, an oversized hockey jersey over shorts, or the cloak over everything. Joggers instead of shorts if the walk back is long.
Is a rave outfit the same as a festival outfit?
