What is Gem and Jam Festival 2027?

Gem and Jam Festival 2027 runs Friday, February 5 to Sunday, February 7, 2027 at the Pima County Fairgrounds, 11300 S Houghton Rd, Tucson, AZ 85747, and the official about page says it is the festival's 18th year. It is timed to the Tucson Gem, Mineral and Fossil Showcase, which the festival says brings over 55,000 visitors to Tucson over three weeks. Since its 2026 return, it has been presented with the Arizona promoter Relentless Beats. The official FAQ lists festival-ground hours of 11 AM to 4 AM on Friday and Saturday and 11 AM to 3 AM on Sunday, and the event is all ages.

The 2027 lineup is out and is topped by Ganja White Night. The official lineup page and the billing graphic on the official site add Balkan Bump, Blu DeTiger (DJ set), The California Honeydrops presenting Sweet & Sticky After Dark, Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country, Eazybaked, Josh Teed, Lotus, Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz Jam, Ott., Player Dave, Richard Finger, Russ Liquid, Saka, Shiba San, Skysia, Smoakland and a Wreckno sunset set, with 43 acts in total and an ALL:LO takeover by Parkbreezy, Pheel., TF Marz and Alex Unger. The lineup is not split by day, and stage names and set times had not been posted as of October 3, 2026.

Pima County Fairgrounds sits on the southeast edge of Tucson, about 20 miles from downtown according to Visit Tucson, and Gem and Jam uses it as a full camping festival: free walk-in camping comes with the weekend pass, with car camping, RV and glamping sold separately. The official FAQ lists free showers inside the festival grounds on the way to the Cantina, free water stations, an ATM, and food vendors with vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options. What sets it apart is the mix: bass and house DJs share the bill with live funk, jam and country-fusion bands, plus workshops, live painters, healers and art installations, all tied to the gem and mineral theme.

Travel & Planning Guide

Pima County Fairgrounds is at 11300 S Houghton Rd on the southeast side of Tucson, and Tucson International Airport (TUS) is the closest airport, with Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) a longer drive north. The official venue FAQ says daily and weekend parking is $30 on arrival in a designated lot, that a taxi stand is on site and the festival is reachable by Uber and Lyft, and that no shuttles are provided. Only cars in the weekend lot can come and go; car camping and RV vehicles stay parked until Monday morning.

Camping is the main way to stay. The official FAQ says walk-in camping is free with your weekend pass for anyone arriving without a vehicle, car camping covers four people on a 10 x 30 ft site, RV passes cover up to six people on a 20 x 40 ft site, and every vehicle pays a $30 impact fee. General camping opens Friday, February 5 at 9 AM, and the separate Early Arrival pass opens the gates Thursday, February 4 from 4 PM to 10 PM. If you want a hotel, the festival points to Tucson hotels and rentals near the fairgrounds, but the Gem Show weekend fills rooms fast.

Your wristband is your entry, so pick it up at the box office: Thursday 3 PM to 10 PM, Friday and Saturday 10 AM to midnight, Sunday 10 AM to 10 PM, per the official FAQ. Tickets come from Eventim, the official ticket link. The festival rules say no refunds or exchanges, rain or shine, and list free showers, gender-neutral bathrooms, an ATM and no public Wi-Fi. Pack out your trash; the campground rules warn of heavy fines for leaving waste behind.

What to Know Before You Go

🧥
Pack for warm days and cold nights

The official suggested-items list says to bring your favorite hoodie and extra layers "for warm days and COLD nights", plus rain gear and mud boots in case it rains. Early February in Tucson averages highs in the upper 60s°F and lows near 40°F, and the festival runs until 3 or 4 AM. Add a bandana for dust, a sun hat and sunscreen for the afternoon sets, and extra blankets for the campsite.

🏕️
Pick the right camping pass

Walk-in camping is free with a weekend pass and gives you a 10 x 15 ft site; car camping gives four people a 10 x 30 ft site next to the car; RV passes cover six people on 20 x 40 ft. Once a car camping or RV vehicle is parked it cannot move until Monday morning. Only propane stoves are allowed, generators run 7 AM to midnight, and amplified sound at campsites is not allowed.

🚐
Arrive Thursday if you want a good spot

General camping opens Friday, February 5 at 9 AM, but an Early Arrival pass lets you in Thursday, February 4 between 4 PM and 10 PM. The official FAQ says the pass is per person, not per vehicle, covers only the RV and camping areas, and is pointless if you cannot get there by 10 PM. Festival tickets are sold separately, and everyone in the car needs their own early pass.

💧
Use the free water and showers

Gem and Jam has multiple free water stations and asks you to bring an aluminum or stainless steel reusable bottle instead of buying plastic. Free showers are inside the festival grounds on the way to the Cantina, with gender-neutral options available. Outside food and drinks are allowed in the campground but not inside the festival grounds, so eat at camp and refill before you walk in.

🔦
Light and mark your campsite

The official list suggests a lantern, flashlight or headlamp with spare batteries, and a flag or balloon to identify your campsite in a field of tents after dark. Bring an extra set of car keys and leave valuables at home; the festival warns of pickpockets and bag slashings during festival season. Open fires, fire pits, charcoal grills, tiki torches and paper lanterns are all banned in the campground.

👨‍👩‍👧
Bringing kids? Know the rules

Gem and Jam is all ages. The venue FAQ says children 6 and under do not need a ticket and kids under 15 must be with an adult, while the festival site rules say under 16 must be accompanied, so plan for an adult with anyone under 16. Each campsite must be registered to an adult 18 or older. Anyone of legal drinking age must carry valid government ID at all times, even with a wristband.
