What is Electric Forest 2026?

Electric Forest is a four-day music and camping festival at the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan. The 2026 edition took place from Thursday, June 25 to Sunday, June 28, and some campgrounds opened early on Wednesday, June 24 for group campers, RVs, Good Life guests and holders of the Wednesday Arrival add-on. The 2026 passes came as General Admission, Good Life and Hotel Package options. The festival's own A Look Back archive starts in 2011.

The official Experiences page listed eight music stages for 2026: Ranch Arena, Sherwood Court, Tripolee, The Observatory, Honeycomb, Center Stage, the Silent Disco and The Grand Artique. The official lineup page named more than 120 acts over the four days, including Excision, Ganja White Night, GRiZ, Galantis, Passion Pit, Chris Lake, Madeon, Kaskade, ILLENIUM (b2b Wooli), LSDREAM, Lane 8 and a Saturday set billed as The String Cheese Incident: The Shebongle Shebang ft. Shpongle and Johnathan Singer. Special programming added stage takeovers, a Silent Disco lineup, Grand Artique performers, the Rumble in the Bumble beatbox and dance battles, and Pride, Trippy Bee and Bassrush lineups.

The heart of the site is Sherwood Forest, which the festival describes as a world within the festival: immersive art and roaming performers, a sea of hammocks by day, and light displays and secret parties after dark. Out in the GA Campgrounds, Main Street held food vendors, artisan shops and The Brainery, where workshops, classes and panels ran through the weekend. Electric Forest is all ages: children 3 and up need a wristband, children 2 and under get in free, and you must be 21 or older to drink alcohol.

Travel & Planning Guide

The Double JJ Resort is in Rothbury, in West Michigan. In 2026 drivers came in off Highway 31: Exit 136 (Winston Rd) led to the South Toll for General Admission and Lucky Lake campers and on to the Good Life and Back 40 tolls, while Exit 140 (Stony Lake Road) led to the North Toll for GA RVs, group camping and GA enhanced camping. The festival asked everyone to follow its signs, not the GPS. Every vehicle needed a camping or parking pass, and vehicles could not leave and re-enter the campgrounds during the event, except for a medical or emergency situation between 8 AM and 8 PM ET.

If you would rather not drive, the festival ran official round-trip shuttles in 2026 from Grand Rapids, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Chicago, Columbus and New York City, and shuttle riders got free Wednesday early arrival. Hotel packages came with a hotel shuttle that ran from Thursday to Sunday, with the last ride back to the hotels at 5 AM on Monday, June 29. Routes and add-ons can change from year to year, so check the official Add-Ons page before you plan.

First-timer tip from the official Forest Prep Guide, written by the moderators of the Electric Forest subreddit and Discord: phone service can be sparse and the closest mid-size city is an hour away, so tell someone your plans and bring what you need. Set up a shaded hangout at camp, since tents get hot by mid-morning, and plan your departure early because the campgrounds bottleneck on the way out. In 2026 vehicles were parked at random in the campgrounds regardless of arrival time and saving spaces was not allowed, so crews who wanted to camp together had to arrive together.

What to Know Before You Go

👗
Plan Two Looks a Day

The official Forest Prep Guide says many veterans pack two outfits a day: something light and practical for the daytime, then a costume change around sundown for the night. Costumes, flow toys and crew totems are all part of the fun.

🌦️
Pack for Any Weather

The Forest Prep Guide plans for nights in the mid-50s°F and full-sun days above 90°F, and expects rain at least once every year. Bring a rain jacket or poncho, spare dry clothes such as wool socks, a sun hat, sunscreen and sturdy shoes.

😷
Beat the Dust

The venue is large and the walking paths get dusty as the day heats up. The guide suggests a face covering and saline nasal rinse, plus earplugs, battery packs and a real flashlight instead of your phone light.

🚩
Know the Totem and Venue Rules

In 2026 totems had to be 7 ft or shorter, made of light material such as PVC (no wood or metal), with nothing sharp on top and no threatening messages. Inside the venue, framed or large backpacks, chairs, tents, glass and outside food or drinks were not allowed.

🍺
Camp Alcohol Rules

You must be 21+ to drink. The 2026 policy allowed a reasonable amount of unopened beer and wine at your campsite, limited to one case of beer and one box of wine per person. No kegs, hard liquor or glass, and no alcohol from camp into the venue.

💜
Look After Each Other

Care from the festival medical team is free. In 2026, Ground Control volunteers in purple shirts roamed the GA and Good Life campgrounds, and the Neighborhood Pods, marked by large inflatable animals, offered information, medical help, showers and ice sales. The official Forest Prep Guide sums it up as PLURR: Peace, Love, Unity, Respect and Responsibility.
