What is Boo! Seattle?

Boo! Seattle is Insomniac's two-night Halloween takeover of downtown Seattle's WaMu Theater — returning October 30–31, 2026 for a costume-mandatory celebration of bass, house, trance, dubstep, tech house, and drum & bass. The festival has been a Pacific Northwest Halloween tradition since 2014 and consistently sells out both nights. WaMu Theater's indoor environment makes Boo! the rare Insomniac event that runs rain-or-shine, perfect for late-October Seattle weather.

The 2026 Boo! Seattle lineup brings the deeper Insomniac roster — heavy on bass, dubstep, and trance with house and tech-house balancing the program. Both nights run as fully-themed Halloween parties with elaborate stage production, immersive Halloween décor, and the costume culture that defines every Insomniac Halloween event. Expect surprise B2Bs, headliner set extensions, and the kind of dancefloor energy that PNW Headliners save up all year for.

WaMu Theater is downtown Seattle's 7,500-capacity indoor venue, located right next to Lumen Field and a few blocks from the light-rail. The indoor setting, the downtown location, and Insomniac's production scale combine into a Halloween experience that's significantly larger and more produced than a typical club night but still intimate enough that you can find your friends and feel the headliner energy from anywhere in the room. This is the Halloween festival Pacific Northwest Headliners build their costumes for.

Travel & Planning Guide

Getting to Boo! Seattle 2026 at WaMu Theater is straightforward — the venue sits in the SoDo district of downtown Seattle, right next to Lumen Field and CenturyLink stadium, a 10-minute walk from Pioneer Square Light Rail Station and 15 minutes from downtown hotels. Rideshare drop-off zones are designated on Occidental Avenue. Avoid driving — parking around stadiums is expensive ($30–$60) and chaotic during major events.

There is no on-site camping (this is a downtown indoor venue). Lodging options span downtown Seattle hotels (Marriott, Embassy Suites, Crowne Plaza) within walking distance, Belltown and Pike Place boutique hotels (15-minute Uber), and budget options in SoDo or Georgetown. Most Boo! Headliners book downtown for the costume-friendly walkability — late-night Uber rides in full costume are part of the Boo! experience.

Pro tip for first-timers: arrive in costume already assembled — there's no real space to change at WaMu. Plan dinner reservations for 5:30pm in Pioneer Square or downtown so you're fed before doors open at 7pm. Bring layered clothing for late-October Seattle weather (50°F days, 40°F nights, often raining) — coat check is available inside. Pre-book your return Uber for 2am because surge pricing after the show is brutal.

What to Know Before You Go

👗
Costume Is Mandatory, Not Optional

Boo! Seattle's costume culture defines the festival — show up out of costume and you'll feel like the odd one out all night. Veterans plan elaborate group costumes for weeks. Comfort matters: avoid heavy masks (you'll overheat indoors), face paint that runs (Seattle humidity), or shoes you can't dance in for 5+ hours. The best costumes are creative, comfortable, and won't fall apart by 1am.

🌧️
Pack For Seattle Late-October Rain

Boo! Seattle weekend almost always has rain in the forecast. Bring a rain jacket or umbrella for the walk from your hotel/Uber drop-off to the venue entrance — coat check inside WaMu Theater handles your wet gear once you're in. Your costume needs to survive rain exposure for at least the walk in and out.

⏰
Doors At 7pm — Arrive Strategically

Doors typically open 7pm with music ramping up around 8pm. Arriving right at 7pm means a long entry line; arriving 8:30pm means you miss support acts. Sweet spot is 7:45pm — entry lines have shortened and you catch the buildup to peak hours. Headliners typically don't start until 11pm or midnight.

🔊
Bring Real Earplugs

WaMu Theater's indoor sound system is calibrated for venue capacity and runs LOUD when full. Foam earplugs will protect your hearing but kill the bass response — invest $25 in high-fidelity earplugs (Etymotic, Loop, EarPeace) that protect without muffling. Your ears will thank you on Sunday morning.

🚗
Pre-Book Your Return Uber

Surge pricing after Boo! ends at 2am is brutal — easily 3–4x normal rates. Pre-schedule your Uber/Lyft for 2:15am from inside the venue. Better yet: walk 10 minutes north to Pioneer Square area and request your ride from there to skip the immediate-venue surge zone. Light rail stops running before show end.

🛡️
Pace Yourself Across Both Nights

If you're doing both Friday and Saturday, Saturday hits different — the second-night energy is higher but so is the cumulative fatigue. Eat real meals Friday and Saturday before doors, hydrate aggressively, and skip the after-hours unofficial party Friday if you want to last through Saturday. Halloween Sunday recovery is mandatory.
