What is Capitol Hill Block Party?

Capitol Hill Block Party is Seattle's defining indie-and-electronic summer festival, returning to Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood from August 7–9, 2026 for three days and 100+ performances across multiple indoor and outdoor stages. Now in its 24th year, CHBP transforms several closed-off Capitol Hill blocks into a true neighborhood festival — outdoor stages on the streets, indoor sets at iconic independent venues Neumos and Barboza, and pop-up performances in additional spaces throughout the surrounding blocks. There is no festival like it in the Pacific Northwest.

The genre spread across the 2026 weekend is unusually broad — indie rock, dream pop, dance pop, electronic, hip-hop, and DJ sets all share the same festival weekend — and the curation team consistently lands acts at the perfect inflection point between underground credibility and mainstream breakthrough. The bill itself is published on the festival's own site rather than here.

What sets CHBP apart is the neighborhood format. Instead of a sterile festival ground in a parking lot, Capitol Hill Block Party closes off real Seattle streets, integrates with the neighborhood's actual venues, bars, and restaurants, and creates a festival that feels less like an event you visit and more like a weekend Capitol Hill itself throws. Wristband attendees can wander between street stages and indoor venues, grab dinner at neighborhood favorites, and catch acts in 200-capacity rooms that other festivals would bury on a fourth stage. This is festival weekend the way it used to feel.

Artists & Performers

We only publish a lineup once we have checked it against the festival's own announcement, so this one is not listed here yet. The current bill is on the official Capitol Hill Block Party site.

Travel & Planning Guide

Getting to Capitol Hill Block Party 2026 is the easiest festival commute in Seattle. The festival footprint sits in the heart of the Capitol Hill neighborhood, just a 5-minute light rail ride from downtown Seattle and 15 minutes from Sea-Tac International Airport (SEA) on the Link Light Rail (Capitol Hill station). The festival entrance is a 2-minute walk from the station exit. Driving and parking on Capitol Hill is brutal during festival weekend — skip the car entirely if you can.

There is no camping at Capitol Hill Block Party — this is a city festival in the middle of an urban neighborhood. The most convenient stays are clustered on Capitol Hill itself (the Sorrento, the Ace, smaller boutique options) or in downtown Seattle and South Lake Union, all within a 10-minute light rail or rideshare to the festival. Airbnbs throughout the neighborhood book up fast for festival weekend, so reserve as soon as you have tickets. Many local Seattleites simply walk or bike to the gates.

Pro tip for first-timers: take the light rail from downtown or Sea-Tac to Capitol Hill station, then walk. The neighborhood food and bar scene is the second festival happening alongside CHBP — Oddfellows, Annapurna Cafe, Linda's, Optimism Brewing, Kedai Makan, and dozens of others are all within walking distance of the festival blocks. Make dinner reservations early, leave time to wander between sets, and pace yourself across the full three days. The indoor late-night venues at Neumos and Barboza are part of the wristband; don't skip them.

What to Know Before You Go

🎫
Buy Early, Buy 3-Day

Capitol Hill Block Party 3-Day GA opens at $199 plus fees and climbs as the festival approaches. VIP at $365 adds access to dedicated lounges, faster venue entry, and complimentary drinks at select locations — worth it for the indoor venue priority. Single-day tickets typically don't go on sale until 4–6 weeks out, and the 3-day wristband is by far the better value if you can do the full weekend.

🚇
Take the Light Rail

Capitol Hill station on the Link Light Rail drops you 2 minutes from the festival entrance. From downtown Seattle it's a 5-minute ride; from Sea-Tac International Airport it's 35 minutes direct. Skip rideshare and parking entirely — Capitol Hill streets are closed for the festival and parking is essentially impossible. The light rail runs until 1 AM, perfect for late-night sets at Neumos.

🏨
Stay on Capitol Hill

Book a hotel or Airbnb on Capitol Hill itself if you can — you'll walk back to your room after late-night sets at Barboza. The Sorrento, the Ace, and smaller boutique options on Capitol Hill book up fast. Downtown Seattle hotels are a 5-minute light rail away, putting you in the middle of the festival neighborhood without the premium of staying directly on the Hill.

🎵
Hit the Indoor Venues

The indoor sets at Neumos and Barboza are part of the wristband and easily missed if you only focus on the outdoor street stages. The 200–500 capacity rooms create some of the best festival experiences in North America — small enough to feel close, loud enough to feel real. Plan your schedule to catch at least 2–3 indoor sets per night.

🍽️
Eat the Neighborhood

Capitol Hill has some of the best food in Seattle. Make reservations at Oddfellows, Kedai Makan, Annapurna Cafe, or Linda's before the festival. Coffee at Caffe Vita, Victrola, or Vivace between afternoon sets. Beer at Optimism Brewing or Stoup. The neighborhood is part of the festival experience — don't just eat overpriced festival food vendors.

👗
Seattle Festival Style

CHBP fashion skews indie-cool — vintage rock tees, denim, Doc Martens, mesh tops, and the kind of effortless Pacific Northwest layering that wins points for being unbothered. Bring a light jacket for the marine breeze after sunset (Seattle Augusts can drop into the 50s at night), comfortable closed-toe sneakers for the streets and indoor venues, and small bag for ID, phone, and earplugs.
