What is Experts Only Festival 2026?

Experts Only Festival is John Summit's dance music festival at Randall's Island Park in New York City. Its second edition took place on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026, following the festival's 2025 debut on the same island. The official site billed it as NYC's largest dance music festival, and the official FAQ said Summit curated the weekend and took the stage following the release of his album CTRL ESCAPE. The 2026 edition was produced in partnership with Medium Rare, Relentless Beats and EMW, and music ran from 3 PM to 10 PM each day.

The official lineup and set times pages named 31 artists across the two days. John Summit played both days: Saturday ended with his extended set on the Main Stage, and on Sunday he played a sunset set before the Main Stage's last slot, SUBJOHNICS, his back-to-back with Subtronics. The set times also billed Adam Ten b2b Max Styler on Saturday and Innellea b2b Korolova on Sunday. Saturday also featured Levity, LYNY, Taiki Nulight and more, while GRiZ, Partiboi69 and Will Clarke were on the Sunday bill.

The official set times split the weekend across three stages, which co-producer Relentless Beats described ahead of the festival. The Main Stage was home to Summit's headline sets and mixed house, techno, indie dance and bass music. Mirror Field was a separate stage surrounded by art installations, built around emerging talent and a wider mix of electronic artists. The Pwemium Lounge, inspired by the viral 'Pwemium' meme, was an indie dance space with its own design and programming.

Travel & Planning Guide

In 2026 the festival called the ferry the easiest way to get there. Boats left from the East 35th Street Ferry Landing, at East 35th Street and the FDR Drive, and dropped riders at the festival entrance after a trip of about 25 minutes. A ferry pass had to be bought in advance; none were sold on the day. The X80 bus, which runs only during special events, went from 125th Street and Lexington Avenue in East Harlem, next to the 4, 5 and 6 trains at 125th Street, straight to the festival entrance.

There was no parking on Randall's Island for the festival, only drop-off and pick-up, so the festival listed nearby garages on the Manhattan and Queens sides instead. Rideshares could drop attendees at the grounds, but there was no rideshare pickup after the show: the festival told people to walk the footbridge or take the X80 back and order a car from there. On foot, the footbridge from East 103rd Street took about 20 minutes to the entrance, and the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge could be walked from Manhattan, Queens or the Bronx.

No camping was offered, so attendees stayed in the city and traveled to the island each day. In 2026 there was no re-entry, and the event ran rain or shine. The festival has not announced anything about a 2027 edition; its official Getting Here page still shows the 2026 travel details.

What to Know Before You Go

🎒
Know the Bag Rules

In 2026, clear bags, backpacks and fanny packs up to 15 x 15 x 5 inches were allowed, plus a small clutch. Hydration packs had to be empty on arrival with no more than 2 pockets. Everyone and every bag was subject to search, and you could be asked to take off your shoes.

🚫
Read the Prohibited List

The 2026 list banned totems, large chains, chain wallets and spiked jewelry, gas masks and tactical gear, pacifiers, stuffed animals, light sticks, laser pointers and Native American headdresses. Glowing or illuminated costumes and jewelry, sunglasses and hats were allowed.

💧
Bring an Empty Bottle

Outside food and drinks were not allowed, except one unopened water bottle. Reusable bottles and CamelBaks were welcome if empty, and there were free water stations inside to refill them.

🪪
Bring the Right ID

Accepted IDs were a passport, a U.S. or Canadian driver's license, a military ID with photo, or another government-issued photo ID. Expired IDs, school IDs, licenses from other countries and photo or digital copies were refused.

🚕
Plan the Ride Home

There was no rideshare pickup on the island after the show. In 2026 ferry passes had to be bought in advance, and people wanting a car were told to walk the footbridge or take the X80 bus off the island first. Check the official Getting Here page for any future travel options.

🌧️
Rain or Shine, No Re-Entry

In 2026 the festival ran rain or shine and there was no re-entry, so attendees had to bring what they needed for the whole afternoon and evening.
