What is Submersion Festival?

Submersion Festival is the East Coast's most curated underground bass-music gathering, returning to Paradise Lakes in Hammonton, New Jersey for its 6th annual edition from October 1–3, 2026. Co-hosted by Aspire Higher and Transmit, Submersion has built a global reputation as the U.S. festival that takes UK bass, drum and bass, dubstep, and experimental electronic music as seriously as the European originals — a gathering where Mala, The Glitch Mob, Truth, and the deepest underground producers headline alongside the next generation of bass-music acts.

The 2026 lineup spans the full spectrum of underground bass culture. Attendees include The Glitch Mob, Gaslamp Killer, Luke Vibert presents Wagon Christ (DJ Set), Mala, Truth, and Tennyson. The deep undercard features Alex Unger, Artifakts B2B Parkbreezy, Brother Bear, Casey Club, Cesco, Cool Customer, Distinct Motive, Dovee, Duffrey, Edit, Goddard, Gyrofield, Kuhlin, Lens (Live Set), Mia Koden, Neffa, Nikki Nair, Resonant Language (Live), Riva, Schmoop, Serum, Simula, SPMC (Live Hardware), TF Marz, Vier (4-hour set), Zero, and a "20 Years of Driven AM" historical retrospective set.

Paradise Lakes is a private campground in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey, an hour from Philadelphia and 90 minutes from NYC. The festival uses two stages — the Beach Stage that lines the sandy lakes and the Woods Stage that immerses you deep in the forest — creating two genuinely different sonic environments across the weekend. The 21+ format keeps the crowd dialed-in and the camping-first structure means everyone is in it for the full three days. This is bass music done right.

Travel & Planning Guide

Getting to Submersion Festival 2026 at Paradise Lakes is straightforward from the Northeast. Hammonton sits in southern New Jersey's Pine Barrens, about 60 minutes from Philadelphia via the Atlantic City Expressway, 90 minutes from NYC via the Garden State Parkway, and 30 minutes from Atlantic City. Most attendees drive in from Philadelphia, NYC, Baltimore, DC, or Boston. The closest fly-in airports are Philadelphia International (PHL, 60 minutes) and Atlantic City International (ACY, 30 minutes). There is no shuttle service — you need a car.

Camping is included with the 3-Day pass and is the only reasonable way to do this festival. Paradise Lakes is a private campground with tent and RV sections, on-site sandy lake access, communal fire areas, shower facilities, and dedicated Quiet Camping zones for sleeping (upgrade required). GA Camping is the default. The Pine Barrens forest setting provides natural privacy between sites, and the lake becomes the festival's daytime gathering point.

Pro tip for first-timers: arrive Thursday afternoon if your pass allows early entry. Lakeside campsites are the most coveted real estate, and Friday-afternoon arrivals risk getting pushed deep into the forest. Stock supplies in Hammonton or Atlantic City before the final drive to Paradise Lakes — the Pine Barrens have very limited grocery options. Bring a real tent, sleeping bag rated for 45°F nights (Jersey October nights drop cold), bug spray, and a headlamp. The Pine Barrens after dark are genuinely dark.

What to Know Before You Go

🎫
Buy Tier 1 Early

Submersion tier pricing climbs steeply once tickets go on sale. Tier 1 3-Day Pass with camping included opens around $189 and the late tier hits $250+ before fees. RV passes start at $250, Quiet Camping upgrades are $50, and group camping packages cost extra. The 4,500-person cap means tickets sell out before the festival — buy at the on-sale moment.

⛺
Camping Setup Matters

Submersion is a camping-first festival in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Arrive Thursday if your pass allows early entry to claim a lakeside campsite. Bring a real tent (not a Walmart-disposable), 45°F sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tarp, camp chair, headlamp, and bug spray. The Pine Barrens forest is dark and sandy — pack accordingly.

🏖️
Use the Beach Stage

The Beach Stage lines the sandy lakes at Paradise Lakes, giving Submersion one of the most distinctive festival visuals on the East Coast. Sunset bass sets on the Beach Stage with the lake reflecting the production are the festival's signature moments. The Woods Stage runs deep in the forest for the heavier, late-night drum and bass. Plan your schedule to experience both environments.

🌡️
Jersey October Weather

Hammonton in early October swings between 70°F afternoons and 45°F nights. Sunscreen for daytime sets — the beach areas get sun even in October. Bring a hoodie, jacket, and warm socks for late nights. Pop-up rain is possible; pack a tarp and waterproof shoes. The Pine Barrens sandy soil drains well but the forest can stay damp under tree canopy.

🚗
Drive and Stock Up

There is no shuttle to Paradise Lakes — you need a car. Stock supplies (ice, water, food, alcohol, bug spray) in Hammonton or Atlantic City before the final stretch. The Pine Barrens have very limited grocery options. Plan a full tank of gas on arrival; gas stations near the venue close early. Cash for vendors helps when cell-card readers fail.

🔊
Earplugs for Sub Frequencies

UK bass and drum and bass at Submersion runs at sub-frequencies that damage hearing in ways higher-frequency music doesn't. High-fidelity earplugs (Loop, Eargasm, Vibes) are mandatory, not optional. The Beach Stage and Woods Stage sound systems are dialed specifically for the bass culture — bring proper protection or your ears will pay for the weekend for months.
