Who is Flume?

Harley Streten — Flume — turned a cereal-box production CD into a career that redefined future bass.

Flume is the Grammy-winning Australian DJ and producer Harley Streten, born in Sydney in 1991. He taught himself production as a teenager and released his self-titled debut album in 2012 on Future Classic — it debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, went double-platinum and won four ARIA Awards.

His signature sound blends pitch-shifted vocal chops, half-time rhythms and unexpected harmonic turns into a style that helped codify future bass. The second album Skin (2016) brought collaborations with Kai, Tove Lo, Little Dragon and Beck, won eight ARIAs and took Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2017 Grammys — making him the first Australian to win the category.

He has stayed restlessly prolific since, releasing the experimental mixtape Hi This Is Flume (2019) and the lush third album Palaces (2022). Explore more electronic music artists in the full DJ directory, or visit his official site.

Flume makes music that feels familiar yet sits in a space you haven’t quite been before.
