Who is Kygo?

The Bergen producer who made tropical house a worldwide phenomenon.

Kygo — born Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll — is the Norwegian DJ and producer who, more than anyone, turned tropical house into a global pop sound. After a remix of Avicii’s "Wake Me Up" went viral in 2013, Kygo broke through with "Firestone" in 2014 and quickly became one of the fastest artists ever to reach a billion streams on Spotify.

Raised in Bergen and trained as a classical pianist, Kygo built a signature style around bright marimba-and-piano melodies, warm drops and emotional vocal features. He performed at the closing ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics, released his debut album Cloud Nine the same year, and in 2019 scored a worldwide smash with "Higher Love," a posthumous Whitney Houston collaboration.

In 2019 Kygo launched his own Palm Tree Records and the Palm Tree Crew brand with manager Myles Shear, expanding into festivals, fashion and lifestyle. You can explore more electronic music artists in the full DJ directory.

Kygo didn’t just ride the tropical house wave — he created it.
