Richie Hawtin — born in Banbury, England and raised in Windsor, Canada — is one of the architects of minimal techno. Operating across aliases including Plastikman and F.U.S.E., he stripped techno down to its hypnotic essentials and pushed the music's technology forward at every turn.
In 1990 he co-founded the Plus 8 label with John Acquaviva, then launched M-nus in 1998. As Plastikman he released defining albums like Sheet One and Consumed, and his 2001 mix album DE9: Closer to the Edit redrew the boundaries of what a DJ mix could be.
