Plus-size rave outfits: measure a piece you own, then match the chart
Plus-size rave outfits at Rave Bonfire come in unisex XS–5XL, and every piece is made to order. To get the right size, measure a jersey or hoodie you already own, laid flat, and match its chest width and length to the size chart for the style you want. Size exchanges are limited, so it’s worth a few minutes with a tape measure to get a jersey that fits on the first try.
This guide is for anyone shopping plus-size rave clothes in 3XL, 4XL, or 5XL. The garment numbers here come from the published size charts; we haven’t wear-tested the pieces on a range of bodies.

Sizing at a glance
- Every piece is unisex and made to order in XS–5XL; each style has its own chart on the size guide.
- The charts show garment measurements taken flat. The chest column is the armpit-to-armpit width; double it for the full circumference.
- Measure a piece you own that fits the way you want, then match chest first and length second.
- Cuts differ: a hockey L is 25.5 inches across the chest laid flat, wider than a baseball 4XL at 25 inches.
- One crew design can run the full XS–5XL range.
Why the letter on the tag tells you so little
A 3XL from one brand and a 3XL from another are different garments; the letter only tells you where a piece sits in that brand’s own size ladder. ASTM International publishes a standard for women’s plus-size body measurements: the D6960/D6960M tables for the plus women’s figure type, sizes 14W to 40W. The standard describes those tables as a starting point for apparel design once you consider fabric type, ease for movement, styling, and fit (ASTM International, D6960/D6960M (reapproved 2023), accessed September 27, 2026). Every brand then adds its own ease, which is why the size guide lists garment measurements taken flat.
The Rave Bonfire size chart asks you to compare a garment you own with the one you’re ordering. The table below shows what that comparison tells you before you pay.
| Step | Ordering by your usual letter | Ordering by garment measurement |
|---|---|---|
| What you compare | A letter that matched at another brand | The flat chest width and length of a piece that fits you the way you like |
| What you know before paying | That the letter fit somewhere else | How this piece will hang on you, to the precision of the chart |
| If it is wrong | A limited exchange on a made-to-order piece | Less likely, and you can send your numbers and ask before ordering |
| Time it costs | None | A few minutes with a tape measure |

How to size a jersey from a piece you already own
Lay a piece you own flat, take two measurements, and match them to the chart. It takes a few minutes and works the same way for a jersey, a hoodie, or a cloak.

- Choose a garment you own that fits the way you want the new one to fit, such as a jersey you wear open or a hoodie you like roomy. Lay it flat on a bed or table, buttons closed, smoothed with your hands and not stretched.
- Measure the chest straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam; doubled, it is the distance around the garment. Then measure the length from the highest point of the shoulder, right beside the collar, straight down to the bottom hem (hockey and hoodie charts call this body length).
- Open the chart for the style you want on the size guide. Match the chest first, then the length. If your chest number sits between two sizes, take the larger one for a jersey you will button closed or layer over a hoodie, and the closer one for a piece you will wear open over a tank.
The full method is in the How to Measure section of the size guide.
If nothing you own fits the way you want, measure around the fullest part of your chest with a soft tape and halve it; that is your body’s flat width. Send that number and the style you want, and we’ll help you pick the row, because the ease built into each cut differs.
What one size up buys above 2XL
On the baseball and reversible jersey chart, each step up above 2XL adds 0.6 to 0.8 inches of flat chest width (1.2 to 1.6 inches around the garment) and 1 to 2.1 inches of length. So sizing up on a baseball jersey mostly adds length, and the biggest length jump comes between 2XL and 3XL.
| Style and size | Chest, flat | Length | What it means |

Hockey jerseys are cut roomy and oversized, in the size guide’s own words. A hockey L at 25.5 inches flat is already wider across the chest than a baseball 4XL at 25 inches, and a hockey 4XL at 29.5 inches is 4.5 inches wider than a baseball 4XL. If you want room through the chest and shoulders without a longer hem, a hockey jersey gives it in a smaller letter. For length, the baseball jersey in 4XL or 5XL is longer.
Loose fit or closer fit
Decide whether you’ll wear the piece open or closed before you pick the row.
- Open wear is the closer fit. A jersey worn open over a tank never has to close, so match the chest of a shirt you wear open and let the length decide.
- Closed wear is the loose fit. If the piece you measured is one you wear open and the new one will be buttoned closed or worn over a hoodie, add room across the chest; the size guide’s advice is to size up for a roomier fit. Above 2XL on the baseball chart, each row up adds 0.6 to 0.8 inches of flat chest, so check the row’s chest number instead of counting letters. If you measured a jersey you already wear closed, match it directly.
- A hockey jersey is loose by design, so pick it by body length.
- Match a hoodie to the chest and body length of a hoodie you already like; the sleeve does not grow between 3XL and 4XL.
Before you order, check this list
- Chest and length of your reference piece written down, in the same unit as the chart
- The style chosen, with the chart row that matches those two numbers
- Open or closed wear decided, and the row adjusted if closed
- A message sent with your numbers if you are between sizes

Plus-size festival outfits by venue: club, desert, camping or arena
The venue changes how many layers you need and which fit you size for.
A club or warehouse night
A packed club or warehouse heats up fast, so take the fewest layers: a basketball jersey, or a baseball jersey open over a tank, with joggers or your own shorts. Size for open wear, since nothing here needs to close.
A desert or daytime festival
The National Weather Service’s heat guidance says: “Wear lightweight, loose fitting, light-colored clothing to reflect heat and sunlight.” It also says to drink plenty of water even if you don’t feel thirsty (National Weather Service, “During a Heat Wave”, accessed September 27, 2026). A light-print baseball jersey worn open over a tank top follows that advice, so size it for open wear. The same page says to slow down and move strenuous activity to the coolest time of the day (National Weather Service, same page), which at a dusk-to-dawn festival is the whole schedule.
EDC Las Vegas allows hydration packs with no more than two main compartments and one smaller one, empty on entry, and there is no re-entry per day (Insomniac Events, EDC Las Vegas hours and info, accessed September 27, 2026). Its 2027 hours run from early evening to 5:30 am, so a hoodie or hooded jersey covers the hours after midnight, and the pack goes in with you. Bags are limited to clear bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches or a small clutch up to 6 by 9 inches (Insomniac Events, same page), so keep your bag within those sizes. Our EDC Las Vegas page links to the official site.
A camping festival
Electric Forest’s prep guide says to prepare for a wide range of temperatures, from the mid-50s at night to 90 and above on full-sun days (Electric Forest, “Prepare for Forest”, accessed September 27, 2026). The guide expects rain at least once every year and recommends packing spare dry clothes such as wool socks. It also notes that many veterans plan two outfits a day: something light for the day and a change around sundown. A reversible jersey gives you two of those day outfits in one piece, and the hoodie or the cloak is the sundown change. Size the day piece for open wear and the night piece for closed wear over it. The same guide recommends a hydration pack or other bag, earplugs, and a flashlight (Electric Forest, same page); if you wear the pack over a hockey jersey, size the jersey by length. Our Electric Forest page has the official links.
An indoor arena on a winter night
A hockey jersey or a hoodie is the whole top over a thin base. Size for closed wear over that base, and choose the hockey jersey when you want the most chest room.
One design for your whole crew, XS–5XL
A crew in one print is easy to find under strobes. The organizer’s job is collecting everyone’s sizes without chaos.
Custom jerseys are made to order in unisex XS–5XL, so one design covers the whole crew. Skip the letters and ask each person for the flat chest and length of a jersey they own and like, and whether they’ll wear the new one open or closed. Add those numbers to the order with each name.
Send us your idea, logo, reference image, or just the vibe on the custom jerseys page; design help is free, and you see the full mockup before you pay. There’s no minimum order, and groups get a discount. Because everything is made to order, tell us your event date when you send the idea and we’ll confirm the realistic delivery window before anything is printed. Couples can split one design; the couples’ rave outfit guide has four ways to match as a pair.
Plus-size rave outfits: questions and answers
What sizes do plus-size rave outfits come in at Rave Bonfire?
Every piece is unisex and made to order in XS–5XL. Open the size guide for the style you want, and match the chest and length to a piece you own.
How do I choose between two sizes?
Match the flat chest of a piece you own first. If that number sits between two rows, take the larger row for a jersey you will button closed or layer, and the closer row for one you will wear open over a tank. If you are still unsure, send us the two numbers and the style before you order.
Which cut gives the most room above 3XL?
The hockey cut gives the most room across the chest. On the size guide, a hockey 4XL measures 29.5 inches across the chest laid flat and a hockey 5XL measures 30.5 inches, compared with 25 and 25.8 inches for a baseball 4XL and 5XL. The baseball jersey is the longer piece: 37.8 and 38.8 inches long at 4XL and 5XL, against 34.5 and 35.5 inches for hockey. Compare the chart numbers with a garment you own instead of trusting the letter.
Are the sizes unisex, and what do plus-size men wear to a rave?
Every Rave Bonfire piece is unisex and made to order in XS–5XL, so the same design fits anyone who matches the measurements. For men in 3XL to 5XL, start with the men’s rave outfits collection.
Can I exchange a jersey if the size is wrong?
Size exchanges are limited because every piece is printed to order, and the returns policy has the details. That’s why we ask you to measure a piece you own before ordering, and to send us your numbers if you’re between sizes.
Measure once,
order the right size the first time.
Plus-size rave outfits at Rave Bonfire run XS–5XL in unisex sizing and are made to order. Pick the piece, lay a garment you own flat, match its chest and length to the chart, and decide whether you’ll wear it open or closed before you choose the row. Browse the rave jerseys collection with your two numbers in hand, or send your idea and event date to the custom jerseys page and see the mockup before you pay.
